Mistaken Identity is the debut solo album of American guitarist and Living Colour-member Vernon Reid, released in June 1996 on Sony Music-imprint label 550 Music. It features contributions from his backing band Masque, and production was handled by Reid, hip hop producer Prince Paul, and jazz producer Teo Macero. The album's title was inspired by Reid's experience with cultural identity in his life. CP Time. Mistaken Identity. You Say He's Just A Psychic Friend. Mistaken Identity is the sixth studio album by American singer Kim Carnes. It was released in April 1981 by EMI America Records. The album spent four weeks at number one on the Billboard 200, and was subsequently certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America RIAA. It was nominated for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. The album's lead single Bette Davis Eyes peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for nine non-consecutive weeks and topped the Hot 100 year-end. Mistaken Identity is the fifteenth studio album by Donna Summer, released on August 23, 1991. Since making her name as the biggest female star of the disco era in the 1970s, Summer had experimented with different musical genres throughout the 1980s with varying degrees of success. For Mistaken Identity, Summer adopted a more urban style. The album was not a commercial success and failed to chart on both the US Billboard 200 and UK Albums Chart. Mistaken Identity should have established Kim Carnes as a huge international star. Her Rod Stewart rasp, affiliation with Kenny Rogers, management by Ken Kragen when he was arguably at his peak, makes one wonder why the across-the-board success of Bette Davis Eyes couldn't be duplicated. Three years after the success of this album, Tina Turner actually did conquer the world, the various producers on Private Dancer weaving enough different textures to make for a multi-dimensional masterpiece. Too many cooks made for wonderful stew. American Identity Movement AIM is a growing community and activist organization dedicated topreserving American Culture, History & Identity.
