This album has got to be one of the best bargains available on Discogs at the moment. There's not one bad track on here, and it's a pretty good mixture of tunes as well - vocal house, hip-house and tougher acid tunes. While it's probably true to say that this type of music rarely fits well within an "artist album" format, this one works extremely well. It doesn't feel like a compilation of tracks taken from 12" singles, it actually manages to flow pretty well, which is unusual for this style of music on a proper artist album.Listening to it again, nearly 30 years after its release, one thing that struck me was this: just how "British" it actually sounds. Now, this could simply be because the UK's acid house artists were obviously influenced by Chicago and Detroit, but I think there's more to it than that; perhaps both scenes were influencing each other?UK house/acid house was developing a style of its own at this time (often rather tougher-sounding than the US tunes, and clearly a precursor for the harder sounds which emerged at the turn of the decade); the tunes on here seem to fit in more with albums like 808 State's "Newbuild" and Baby Ford's "Ford Trax" than they do with the kind of stuff which was issued in the UK on the "Jackmaster" compilations, for example. Listen to a few of those records mentioned and you may see my point.Despite being clearly of its time (it's full of the usual samples common on house, acid and hip-hop records back then), it still manages to sound really fresh even after all these years; I've been bouncing around my room like it's '88 again.Tyree Cooper may have been the self-styled "prince of hip-house" but Fast Eddie was perhaps the best contender for the throne :)

What a great bit of writing. Picked this up on a whim, came here for more info and got just that. Thanks for sharing the knowledge!
