I recently saw Dizzy Gillespie's All-Star Big Band perform in Philadelphia, and although I'm not a Be-Bop aficiando, they were great. But the real reason I bought the CD, was to hear Roberta Gambarini sing and scat. She's the best female jazz singer I've ever heard. She's got perfect pitch, a vocal range that's phenomenal, and she radiates an aura that just captivates the audience as well as the musicians. The most refreshing thing of all, is that she's totally real. You can see the intense respect she has for the musicians who accompany her
